Pinnacles National Monument about 2 hours drive south of the Bay Area is a very interesting place to go hiking.  The view are beautiful, and it is a little challenging to hike there without being dangerous.  I have visited the monument on several occasions.

Another view

The peak loop trail is probably the most popular

But it can be very tight.

Well, it is not too bad when you get closer
