Jeff and I visited Wilder Ranch and Ano Nuevo north of Santa Cruz a weekend in August.  It is  nice place with some very nice and easy hikes.  However, you need to make reservations at Ano Nuevo if you want to go all the way to the point.  There is a lot of wild life there, so the number of people allowed in is limited.   It is still a nice place to hike around.
