Berry Creek is probably the nicest waterfall in the close vicinity of the Bay Area. It is situated in Big Basin, and is one very nice hike of about 10 miles. In the summer there fall still carries significant water, but I still prefer being there in the spring where the fall is at its peak. There are quite a few other nice waterfalls in the area, However, most of then are only worth going to see in the winter and the early spring.
