I enjoy waterfalls very much, so my hikes often bring me to see some spectacular waterfalls.  The pictures included here also include pictures from the hike to the falls.

Maple Falls - Aptos

Maple falls in Aptos just south of Santa Cruz is an interesting fall, where the hike in is probably more to remember than the actual fall.  The hike requires you to traverse fallen tree trunks and cross the creek several times.  The fall is close to the epi-center of the 1989 San Francisco earth quake.

Tip Top Toe

A small fall close to where I live - in the Santa Cruz mountains.  Not an impressive fall., but a nice hike in beautiful surroundings.

Dawn Falls

Dawn fall is a small fall north of San Francisco.

Visit to Uvas Park right after rain

Uvas Park has many beautiful falls after it has been raining.  We went there during Christmas after rainfall.  A nice park south of the Bay Area

Cataract Falls in the Winter

Cataract falls north of San Francisco is really impressive after rain - We visited while it was raining - a wet hike, but very impressive falls.

Grouse Falls near Auburn towards Lake Tahoe

Carsten with Grouse Falls in the back.  We visited in August, where the water flow is lower, but it is bound to be a beautiful fall in the spring and early summer.

Feather Falls close to Orville

Feather fall is a beautiful waterfall with a nice hike with the fall about half way on the 9 mile hike.

Burney Falls close to Lassen National Park

Burney Falls just north of Lassen National Park on Highway 99 is a very impressive waterfall.  However, it is almost too easily accessible, which takes a little from the joy - there is no effort in getting there

Water falls close to Lake Tahoe

There are many interesting waterfalls along Lake Tahoe.

Alamere Falls hike north of San Francisco, January 2001

Alamere falls is an impressive fall that falls into the ocean just north of San Francisco.  However, you need to visit in the winter to get this kind of impression

Big Basin Falls

There are a few falls in the close surroundings of the Bay Area.  They usually only fall in the winter and spring, but I still enjoy visiting them at that time.  Berry Creek in Big Basin  is a very nice waterfall on a long but very nice hike among the redwood trees in Big Basin.

Waterfalls along Highway 1

Lime kiln falls is one of the most spectacular falls along highway 1 - The experience used to be even more intense as you had to traverse the river several times to get there, but now they have made the access a lot easier.

Kitchen Creek Falls (San Diego)

We were supposed to see the nicest waterfall close to San Diego.  Only one thing was missing - the water!

Water falls in Lassen National Park

Lassen National Park may not be known for its waterfalls, but it does have a few nice ones.

Water falls in Yosemite National Park

Yosemite has some of the most impressive waterfalls in California
